About Us
Gundiah Gazette - July 2009.
History: Starting around the 1980's as a Cricket club and progressing to a Social club, the "Gundy Sports & Social Club" flounded after the death of Eddie Rodgers, the driving force. In 2002, some locals got together to revive the group. Renamed "Gundiah Community Inc", it has been slowly growing to now include 30 members, a revitalised clubhouse and some sporting facilities.
Invitation: “The aim of the club is to provide a place for all residents of all ages to meet over a steak or sausage”, the current President Trevor Keightley said. “We have guest speakers at some meetings, others times we play pool or card games, watch TV or a movie, in other words, we just enjoy getting together for a yarn”.
“Becoming a member of The Community Place is easy, just come along to one of our meetings or call us up. Membership is $5 per year including insurance, and open to everyone. We would like all to join in.”
Meeting Times: 1st and 3rd Friday evening of each month at the club house in School Road Gundiah. Dinner is 6pm for a minimal cost. [$4-5]
Other facilities: pool table, darts, croquet/boule court [in progress].

Have They Been Good?
Gundiah Gazette - Dec 2010
Gundiah Community Place wraps up their year with a Cricket Day and Santa visit, but have they been good? President Trevor Keightley tells it like it is... “G’Day for the last time for 2010. It does not seem 10 years since we said goodbye to the 90’s, does it? It may be an age thing... I seem to remember that the school terms went on and on and holidays never seemed to arrive...
Well Behaved Bus Trip. Just like our last members...they did finally arrive but with 10 seconds to spare before we left at 6.30am on our marvelous adventure. Off to Nanango and Ringfield Historic House. The 1908 home and gardens have been restored by the council and volunteer group–what a credit to them! We were given morning tea–and not just one or two scones, but as many as one could devour... a certain member was noted as having 10! No name mentioned, but he slept well on our way to the next stop, the Lavender farm. What a paradise for the ladies! On to Mt Wooroolin lookout and then Kingaroy for 3 course lunch at the RSL. No time for a nanny nap, Bjelkie-Peterson Dam and then to Moffatdale Winery for a very enjoyable wine tasting with lecture on wines, followed by wait-for-it more food. Highly recommended. Oh, but wait, we still had to stop at Cheese World at Goomeri. Yes, we had a great day, why don’t you come next time?
Attempting Sainthood. On Sunday 12th we will be having a children’s cricket match starting at 4pm followed by a sausage sizzle and Christmas party. We would love to see all the kids from the area come as we have been informed by his helpers that St. Nicholas will pay us a visit!
Led Astray. On Friday, 3rd of Dec. we have our last social night of the year and then on Friday 17th, it’s our annual Christmas Party. This year we have a Karaoke sing along so that will give us a chance to see who we can submit as next years X Factor nominee... we heard that Larry is a contender and Sandi could match her name sake Olivia from Grease.
Pastor Perfection. Finally as I mentioned last month, our group is made up of many characters! Believe it or not, one member we have found out is moonlighting as a minister of the cloth. Yes, The Reverend Peter is living amongst us. We have put a tail on him to find out more of the reasons and will give a report in the next issue.
Well, to finish off, myself, the committee and club members, wish you all a very, very, happy Christmas. May the New Year also brings you more happiness and good health!
As always, if you would like to become a member, please ask any member or ring Pauline on 41292504 for details.
Trevor Keightley, President.
